Innovation Quality Index INQI

Rethinking IT’s Role in Innovation

In many organizations, IT is still seen as a reactive service provider—delivering what is requested and prioritizing time-to-market above all else. But in an era defined by AI, digital platforms, and rapid technological change, this logic is no longer sustainable. IT is uniquely positioned to drive technology-enabled innovation and business modernization. Recognizing and strengthening this role is the foundation of the Innovation Quality Index (INQI).

What the INQI Measures

The INQI assessment evaluates how effectively IT contributes to innovation across six quality domains and 24 quality dimensions. It goes beyond traditional IT performance metrics to capture the department’s strategic impact on innovation efforts. Aligned with widely used frameworks such as the IT Quality Index and the principles of ISO 56002, INQI provides a multidimensional, high-level view of innovation quality that supports benchmarking and actionable planning.

A Practical and Independent Assessment

Designed to be practical, consistent, and directly actionable, the INQI is delivered as an independent two-day assessment in the form of interview and verification—onsite, remote, or hybrid—by field experts. Its standardized outputs enable easy comparison over time and across organizations, while highlighting priority improvement areas that can be integrated with an IT Quality Management System. Flexible in scope and cost, IQI can also be combined with the IT Quality Index for a broader evaluation of overall IT quality.

Insights That Drive Transformation

The results include a formal INQI certificate, statistical benchmarking, and a management overview summarizing key findings, strengths, and opportunities. These outputs clarify IT’s current and target roles in innovation, helping leaders define the next steps for digital transformation or AI initiatives. By understanding where IT stands today, organizations can align resources, set realistic targets, and unlock the full innovation potential of their IT function including their role in AI adoption.
